One-to-One Counselling

One-to-One counselling is available from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 9pm. Home visits are also possible for those who may be unable to attend the practice.

Zoom or FaceTime counselling can be arranged and is a great way to speak with a counsellor where locality or circumstances are an issue, for example, students attending boarding-school or college, or a person recovering from hospital treatment.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a very practical and scientifically proven form of therapy that enables a person to control and change their thought-patterns, responses, and behaviour. CBT can be highly effective in dealing with negative and upsetting thoughts that can lead to varying levels of stress and anxiety. TalkHere CBT counselling is designed to equip you with a personalised set of practical and simple techniques that can help to reduce the harmful effects of these negative thoughts that people experience. My CBT counselling approach is based on well-established generic techniques but then tailored specifically to the individual's needs.

CBT is not just ‘talk therapy’. CBT aims to teach individuals struggling in a cycle of 'feeling stuck' different ways of thinking and behaving that can alleviate their struggles and enable them to move forward.

Parenting & Family Therapy

As an experienced counsellor working with children and parents over many years, but also as a parent having raised three children, I know that trying to be a good parent and to always “get everything right” can be a daunting and challenging task!

There are many day-to-day pressures in family life that can lead to pent-up emotions and frustrations contributing to conflict and breakdowns in communication.

This is when coming together to talk with a counsellor can really help.

I have found that the vast majority of individuals of all ages that I speak with in my counselling practice express a genuine desire to have a more positive relationship and to communicate more effectively with their other family members.

My approach to parenting and family counselling aims to give both the parent, and child or adolescent, a safe, calm and non-judgmental space to be able to express themselves freely and uninterrupted. It is an environment where each family member can be heard and better understood.

My approach is also rooted in the belief that we must all work to take responsibility for our attitudes, our behaviour and our words. These are the key factors that can cause friction, resentment and miscommunication within a family.

And as we learn to better understand these issues and dynamics, the potential for a healthier family environment becomes more realistic and achievable.

If you think this is something you and your child would benefit from, please feel free to get in touch.

Couples Therapy

There are times when couples feel they need support and guidance in a safe, confidential and listening environment. My Couples Therapy Program is designed to create a better understanding of each other's concerns and frustrations and to improve communication & listening skills in a relationship. Couples therapy aims to facilitate discussion and understanding, and this takes places in an atmosphere where both individuals feel their voices and opinions can be heard and appreciated.

Whether the issues in a relationship are new developments or stem from long-standing issues, Couples Therapy can be a great help to couples who desire change and want to set a stronger foundation together for a happier and more positive relationship.
